It’s the small things

Just thought I would share a few non fashion related finds of mine this month that I have been loving.

WORKOUT: HEATHER ROBERTSON

Before quarantine started last March I had never discovered the world of YouTube Fitness. To be honest I did not even realize that it was such a huge YouTube industry!

I feel like I am cheating writing about Heather Robertson because Chloe Ting is my girl. She is the only reason I got in better shape in quarantine. I like the style of her videos and that they are short but effective.

Fast forward a few months and I wanted to switch things up a bit. One of my friends mentioned Heather Robertson to me so I decided to check her out. She is a Canadian YouTuber and does a mix of different workouts. She has a lot of workouts with weights which is great for adding some intensity to workouts. My personal favourite workouts from her are her low impact HIITs, her pilates HIITs or her cardio kickboxing. For me one of the highlights to her workouts are the music, I have downloaded so many of the songs she uses! Only downside is she does not really explain the moves so it does take a while to get them right.

My two favourite workouts from Heather Robertson are:

30 Minute Low Impact HIIT

Cardio Kickboxing

SELF CARE: TAKING A BATH

This might sound like a silly discovery but who really has a soak in the tub these days? I always see well staged photos of pretty tubs on instagram and wondered who has the time for that? 99% of the time I am in a rush and jump in the shower. I bought a house last year and vowed to myself I would make use of the tub. Although I do not do it often having a soak in the tube at least once a week has become a ritual. Light a candle, drop in a bath bomb, read a book or watch Netflix! If you like to multi task like me throw on a face mask while you soak. I have also found the hot water great for my recent neck problems. Adding Epsom salts is also great to help with any muscle tension.

Favourite bath products include:

Lush bath bombs

Susan Kauffman home spa box - love the products in this box which can enhance a soak in the tub.

COFFEE: PISTACHIO LATTE

A sweet and salty drink this has become my new favourite latte flavour. I can’t say I can definitely tell it is pistachio but I love the toasted nut flavour combined with the salty brown butter topping. This is not a very sweet latte which is why I enjoy it. When I feel like I need a bit of a treat this is my go to drink and you should try it out!

COCKTAIL: NEGRONI

I was not always a fan of Campari or Aperol because of the bitter after taste. After my last vacation in Milan I began to enjoy the flavour and now love a Campari or Aperol based cocktail as a before dinner drink. Nothing beats a good drink and watching a beautiful sunset from my living room.

I will share my favourite classic Negroni cocktail with you. I also discovered the Negroni Sbagliato which uses sparkling wine.

Classic Negroni

  • 1 ounce Campari

  • 1 ounce gin

  • 1 ounce sweet red vermouth

  • 1 orange slice

  1. Pour all ingredients into a rocks glass filled with ice

  2. Garnish with an orange slice
