Best Skincare Finds of 2020

I had nothing but time in 2020 to try out all kinds of skincare. I perfected my routine and am happy with the current state of my skin. I thought I would give a run down of my top new to me skincare finds. To keep things simple I will choose a single product for each skincare category. I am only going to mention what I like about these products briefly since most of them I have discussed in more detail before. I can link those blog posts below. This is not an easy task but here we go!

This cleanser uses a combination of chemical and mechanical exfoliation. After use my skin feeling soft while not drying it out or leaving it too oily. I would not use this every day because of the coarse mechanical exfoliants but works well if I use it once or twice a week. This product has a herbal scent which is not over powering. The packaging it light and because of its slim shape it is easy to store or travel with. This product is pricey but since I use only a small amount and do not use it every day it lasts quite some time.

2. Toner: Saturday Skin Pore Clarifying Toner 10% Glycolic Acid + Pore Control Complex

After years of using the Pixi Glow Tonic I came across the Saturday Skin glycolic acid toner while on Sephora. While the Pixi toner has 5% glycolic acid the Saturday Skin toner has 10% glycolic acid. I decided to make a change given all the positive Saturday Skin reviews and I am happy I did! My skin looks so much smoother and it helps to minimize my pores. My T zone can get oily and since starting this toner I have noticed my nose gets less oily during the day. This product has no scent. I love the frosted glass container which feels very luxe. Only downside with the packaging is that the glass is heavy for travel.

3. Eye Serum/Cream: Dermalogica Biolumin-C Vitamin C Eye Serum

This is the first time I have used an eye serum. To be honest I did not realize that there were both eye serums and eye creams until I bought this product. I started using this around May and saw an instant difference in how bright my under eye area looked. When wearing makeup I needed to use less concealer which was great. I love the light weight texture and how quickly it absorbs. During the summer I found that this serum alone was enough to moisturize my under eye skin. Now in the winter I have added in an eye cream. This product has no scent. I like the tube applicator since I do not have to dip my fingers into a cream pot. Initially I found it hard to only dispense a small amount of product through the applicator and it was frustrating that so much product would dispense at once (based on Sephora reviews I am not alone with this). Now that I am used to the packing I do not have this issue as much.

4. Treatment Cream: SkinCeuticals Glycolic Brightening Renew Overnight

Hands down my best skincare find of the year. This product has evened out my skin texture and color while overall brightening up my skin. This is definitely the secret to glowing skin! This product has no scent. You can start by using this product every other night but eventually use it every night. I like the packaging and it is light weight enough to travel with.

5. Face Mask: Omorovicza Ultramoor Mud Mask

Before this year I was not consistent with face masks. Since I cannot go to the spa for facials right now I decided to invest the time and money in masks I can try at home. There were two masks I tried this year which I really liked and it was a tough call which to write about. These are both similar masks, the other mask being the Glamglow Supermud mask. In the end Omorovicza won because I enjoy the product texture more. This mask has a thicker consistency which doesnโ€™t drip once applied. I like that this mask can be used all over the face or as a spot treatment. Since I wear a medical face mask all day at work I find myself prone to acne in the covered areas of my face. Aside from the deep cleaning benefits this mask also left my skin feeling tight and lifted. I typically use this mask once a week on the lower half of my face to prevent breakouts. This product has a strong earthy scent. Personally I do not find the scent a turn off. The frosted glass packaging is elegant and feels luxurious.
