Into the Hundred Acre Wood: H Tasting Lounge Winnie the Pooh Afternoon Tea Review

“I am rumbly in my Tumbly.” - Winnie the Pooh

I am always on the hunt for new food to try. If Afternoon Tea was a meal it would be my favorite meal of the day. Savory, sweets, scones, caffeine and Champagne? It is like brunch but with more variety. Sign me up.

H Tasting Lounge is currently offering a Winnie the Pooh themed afternoon tea and I am here to guide you through it!

** Thank you H tasting Lounge for collaborating on this post. As always opinions are my own.

Your tea starts with one of the prettiest afternoon tea menus I have seen. The menu feels more like a story book which is fitting of the theme. There is cute artwork along with descriptions of what is being offered.

I chose the Elderflower tea. This tea is harvested on a family farm in Quebec. I prefer lighter fruity teas and this was delicious. It was the perfect summer tea.

One of the most iconic parts of the afternoon tea at H tasting Lounge is their cotton candy. The tea starts off with their cotton candy tree and brown butter caramel popcorn. Afternoon tea at H tasting lounge always has a dreamy quality and I believe it is their cotton candy tree that really sets this mood. As a lover of all things butter, the brown butter caramel corn had that sweet and salty taste that was a great way to start tea.

The starters were followed with Scones. The scones came out in a 'Hunny' honey pot affixed with a red balloon. The attention to detail on this one course alone was adorable. Aesthetics aside the scones were something else. I LOVE scones. I make them and have tried many in my life but these were some of my favorite. These were a blueberry early grey scone which had a light crisp exterior with a soft and flakey interior.  They were not too crumbly and dry like some scones. I think scones are really what set apart a good afternoon tea. Restaurants always put their efforts into other sweet and savory offerings which are unique. While a good scone can seem boring it is a true skill.

The ferris wheel presentation of the savory and sweet choices is another notable feature of the H Tasting Lounge afternoon tea. This is a fun and functional way to present so many options.

Please refer to the images above for details on the sweet and savory offerings. My favorite savory bites were the smoked salmon sandwich, cucumber sandwich and curry chicken tarlet. The smoked salmon came with honey preserve on a honey butter brioche cracker. The sweetness from the honey was the perfect compliment to the salty salmon. The cucumber sandwich had a dill chive whipped cream cheese and granulated honey. The coronation chicken tartlet was divine. A slight sweetness in this tartlet came from dried apricots and a crunch from toasted almonds.

All the dessert offerings are truly sensational. They all showcase such different flavors while still complimenting each other. While all these desserts were tasty, the chocolate cookies were amazing. These were a chocolate sandwich with whipped milk chocolate ganache and a hazelnut glaze drenched in honey. If you are reading this H Tasting Lounge you should package those up and sell! 12/10.

Overall we had a delightful time at the Winnie the Pooh afternoon tea. The restaurant has done a great job making a tea that is elegant for just adults but with fun elements this children would enjoy.

Have you tried afternoon tea at H tasting Lounge? If you have let me now what you think!
