Runway to Reality: Chanel FW 07 Skirt
Before my collection of shoes and bags exploded I loved buying runway clothing. Runway clothing is an expensive investment but if you buy the right pieces they can be timeless additions to your wardrobe.
I bought this skirt in 2007 and have gotten so much use out if it. The structure of this skirt is amazing with internal boning to keep the high wasted shape. Sometimes styling a runway piece for everyday use can be difficult. I have worn this skirt before with the matching penguin sweater as worn on the runway but I wanted to give it my own touch.
While moving earlier this year and going through my closet I came across this skirt. While taking a closer look at it I noticed the brown color in the tweed which inspired this camel toned look. Usually when wearing this skirt I pair it with the penguin sweater or black/white. Seeing the brown gave me the inspiration for this look. I love the neutral palette which allows the skirt to pop. Although the sweater I wore is thick I tucked it in because I wanted as much of the tweed to show. The end look is something wearable for work. You would never know this was a runway piece or that it was from 2007.
While new runway clothing may not be for you, consignment is a great way to find these older pieces. On a side note besides the tights nothing in this outfit is new to me from this last year. All the pieces are from 2019 or older but I think they still look fresh and new! I hope this piece inspires you to look in your wardrobe for old treasures and re style them!
